What is your Sovereignty? ---Final

Frederick Douglass posed a rhetorical question about the paradox of asking enslaved people to celebrate the 4th of July. This rhetorical question has animated my first post, and I continue in the same direction. It is akin to asking Nigerians to be happy about the 1st of October because it marked our freedom from colonial rule even though our realities scream bondage.

The talking point regarding the US-Nigeria tension over Christian genocide has been, "Oh, our sovereignty."

So I am asking

What is your sovereignty to Nigerians and the effervescent journalist 'Fisayo Soyombo who continued at the risk of his life to scream about the porosity of our borders and illegal smuggling of goods and likely arms into the country?

What is our sovereignty to the one who saw you celebrate smugglers and those who expose our safety, security, and sanity to danger?

What is your sovereignty when kidnappers and their political thugs operate with impunity like there is no law and no consequences for its violations?

What is our sovereignty when you cannot guard your population, our territorial integrity, and our internal security until some “problematic purple” men across the Atlantic put you on your toes?

What is your sovereignty to the Nigerian students who hear you borrow outrageous amounts of money every market day that we don’t know what you used it for?

What is our sovereignty when the FCT is not safe? Where an armed robbery led to the death of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, an Arise TV presenter

What is your sovereignty when you go cap in hand begging the international community for help and loans every day, and then you roar like an empty barrel when they call you/us out of our name " a disgraced country," a "shithole country"

What is our sovereignty to the people who saw/read how you stole all our commonwealth to acquire properties around the world while you lied to our face that the previous administration ruined everything even though you campaigned on continuing where he left off?

I, Rosemary Oyinlola Oluwaseyi Ojuolape Popoola, would never participate in your political correctness of saying that everyone is impacted by genocide. Christians in Northern Nigeria are targeted. I will never engage in such erasure, denial, or minimizing.
